‍A major turning point for French imports

From 2025, the Delta IE system will gradually replace Delta G. This is one of the biggest technical overhauls of the import side ever undertaken by French Customs. The reform aims to modernize all declaration processes, reinforce regulatory compliance and enable full interoperability with other European systems, in line with the EU Customs Code.

In concrete terms, this means that companies - SMEs and large corporations alike - will have to adapt the way they transmit data to customs. The old document-centric logic is giving way to a data-oriented, structured, interoperable, automatable logic.

For customs declarants, freight forwarders, importers, logisticians and IT managers, this is a strategic operational changeover. And the deadlines are fast approaching.

‍What is Delta IE?

Delta IE, for Importation Environnement, is the new customs teleservice for filing and tracking import customs declarations. It is gradually replacing the interfaces and formats currently used with Delta G and DTI G.

The new system is based on the requirements of the CDU and the European Data Model (EUCDM). It is designed to operate exclusively on dematerialized, XML-structured formats. The H1 declaration becomes the standard import declaration format.

The main changes include:

  • the abolition of DTI G,
  • the H1 format requirement,
  • the use of interoperable flows,
  • a message-based architecture for B2G exchanges,
  • data-driven processing.

According to the DGDDI, the switchover to Delta IE will begin progressively from May 2025. A phase of cohabitation with Delta G is planned, but the complete switchover should be completed by the end of 2025.

‍What Delta IE means for companies

With Delta IE, companies no longer transmit documents, but structured data flows. This requires:

  • transform current document management into data management,
  • make the information upstream of the declaration process more reliable,
  • integrate CDU requirements into production tools,
  • ensure that ERP systems, TMS and customs platforms are compatible with H1 XML flows,
  • train declaring teams in the new procedures and automated processing of customs returns.

This also requires the use of tools capable of automatically extracting, structuring, enriching and transmitting the data required by customs authorities.

‍Greater demands on the quality of transmitted data

Delta IE places data at the heart of the customs process. Every element transmitted must correspond to the requirements of the H1 scheme defined by the EUCDM. The slightest deviation may result in rejection of the declaration, or the triggering of an in-depth control.

It is therefore essential to optimize the quality of data extracted from commercial documents (invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, etc.).

This is where intelligent document processing solutions like Docloop play a key role. By automating data analysis, extraction and structuring, they save time, drastically reduce errors and ensure compliance with Delta IE requirements.

‍Document automation for registrants

Docloop offers a SaaS platform dedicated to logistics and customs document processing. Its technology is based on advanced Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) combined with artificial intelligence specialized in the customs field.

Thanks to its extraction engine trained on customs documents, Docloop automatically extracts key data from documents to be imported (weight, incoterms, origin, customs code, values, etc.). This data is then formatted, structured and transmitted to software connected to customs systems (e.g. Akanea Douane, etc.).

With Docloop, companies:

  • reduce declaration processing time by up to 80%,
  • reduce data entry errors and document anomalies by 86%,
  • ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements via their customs declaration platforms.

‍Getting ready for Delta IE: 3 key recommendations

  1. Audit current processes: identify sensitive flows, breakpoints and critical documents.
  2. Integrate a document automation solution: like Docloop, capable of interfacing with ERP and customs declaration systems.
  3. Train your teams: understand the H1 model, CDU requirements, new interactions with Delta IE.

‍Delta IE and interoperability: a strategic opportunity

Switching to Delta IE is not just a regulatory constraint. It's an opportunity to rethink document organization in depth and gain fluidity across the entire import logistics chain.

Companies that anticipate this change can not only automate their compliance, but also collaborate more effectively with their service providers, make their forecasts more reliable, and sustainably reduce their management costs.

‍The transformation is underway, are you ready?

By the end of 2025, all companies will have to switch to Delta IE. The impact is significant, but the tools exist to transform this obligation into a performance driver. Docloop supports its customers in this transition.

Document automation, combined with data compliance, becomes a competitive advantage. Start your transformation now.
